SAFIR-Med in EU Drone Days 2022
The Directorate General for Mobility and Transport and the SESAR 3 Joint Undertaking hosted the EU Drone Days on November 29th and 30 th in Brussels, attracting more than 400 stakeholders. The event was a backdrop for the launch of the European Commission’s Drone Strategy 2.0, an initiative, which aims to encourage and support the spread of UAV technology and use-cases in daily life and work, while also attaining safety, security, and social acceptance objectives.
The European Commissioner for Transport, Adina Vălean, gave the opening speech and many more key stakeholders participated in the panels. The discussions held evaluated the progress of the preparations in the European drone sector to launch an effective and safe U-space across the 27-nation bloc. Participants were also able to visit an exhibition featuring new technologies and applications of urban air mobility and SESAR 2020 U-space projects. The SAFIR-Med project participated in the exhibition, showcasing the SABCA UAV that took part in the Antwerp BVLOS Demo flights and technologies used there.
